Mac Finder lets you display two RAW image side by side with built in Quick View feature. Surely windows has something similar?

Most likely. I used to use Adobe Lightroom to compare shots, select, crop and convert. I can still use that or another programme to compare and select. It is not essential to use Affinity for the compare and select stages but as I said in my original query 'it would be nice' to be able to do those things without switching from one application to another.

Each other. If I take consecutive shots that appear identical, comparing side by side is the most reliable way of establishing whether one is sharper than the other.

If this is a response to my post, you need to have the "converted/developed" RAW files. Otherwise, preview only a thumbnail in file.

But then it's more of a requirement for DAM, not a photo editor.

You require a function from AL, which is a DAM that is designed to process/display multiple files, to an application that is designed to process a single file.
Therefore, I say that this is more of a requirement for DAM.
