hikerbikerwriter
I recently discovered that after hiding the tool via keyboard shortcut or menu, it will not toggle back into view. The only solution I have found is to restart the app and press the ctrl key and then clear user prefs. It works, but is quite an annoying workflow. I checked my version 1.7.3 and it doesn't appear there are any new updates the app lately. Any suggestions for a better solution?
walt.farrell
There is/was a bug where if you hid the UI and then closed the application, the UI would not come back without using Ctrl while starting. But I think 1.7.3 fixed that. It sounds like you may have something similar, but are you closing the application after hiding the Toolbar? Or just hiding it and then trying to display it again? hikerbikerwriter
I was trying to hide & show in same session. I am forced to quit in order to show again. Confirmed I am on 1.7.3 as well.
hikerbikerwriter
You can re-create it doing the following: 1) switch to separated mode 2) Hide Context Toolbar 3) Toggle Toolbar (Hide) It now won't toggle back. Even if I go into preferences and reset User Default Settings. The only way to restore it is to ctrl-shift on open. NOTE: When NOT viewing in separated mode this is not an issue. It appears isolated to Separated mode.

I am most often successful with not resetting the app but simply select "Customize Toolbar...". That makes it slide in from outer screen space with its options window. Now I need to move the bar ta any different position and close the options window to make that bar remaining on screen. Thanks for the recipe hikerbikerwriter, I've been able to reproduce this and will get it reported to development. Unfortunately the suggestion from thomaso above didn't work for me, all I got was the customise toolbar screen appear, but still no toolbar. Thanks for letting us know and hope you'll be able to work around it in the meantime. You may want to remove the 'Tab' shortcut from 'Toggle UI' to avoid accidentally running in to it. Staff Patrick Connor Posted March 14, 2020 Staff Share Posted March 14, 2020 We have made fixes/improvements to this area (Toolbar disappears after Toggling UI in Separated Mode) of the program in the latest customer beta. If you would like to try these changes the beta software is available in the forum posts listed below. The latest beta builds are downloadable from links at the top of each of these beta forum posts. Affinity Photo 1.8.2.174 for Mac Affinity Designer 1.8.2.4 for Mac Affinity Publisher 1.8.2.619 for Mac These betas install parallel, next to the release version (they do not overwrite your release) and so the fixes can be tried in the beta without affecting your normal workflow in the release version. Once these programs have been through a full beta process the change will be released in a future free 1.8.2 update/patch to all customers.
