Canon 90D .CR3 files not opening in Photo for iPad

Recommended Posts

When I try to import a .CR3 file from my Canon 90D to Affinity Photo for iPad, I get the following error ... "Failed to open file .... The file type is not supported".

Any ideas on the solution and/or work around until this is supported??

Cheers

Have you updated to iPadOS13 and have the latest V1.7.3.155 installed?

Can you upload a CR3 file here that you can’t load for others to try?

Affinity Photo 1.7, Designer 1.7, Publisher 1.7 on MACOS Catalina Beta, Affinity Photo 1.7 and Designer 1.7 on iPad Pro 9.7" iPadOS 13 beta, Affinity Photo 1.7 on Windows 10

At the moment the Canon 90D is not supported by the Apple Core RAW engine and hopefully the will be included in the next Apple update

Yep updated to iPad OS13 and also the latest version of Affinity. Sounds like the issue may be that Apple need to catch up.

Out of interest, I have uploaded a file below if you would like to give it a go?

Noted, thank you, I have added a query on their support forum.

Do you know roughly how often it takes for Apple to catch up? - appreciate it would only be an estimate :)

No worries.

Hopefully it’s being worked on in the background.
