eobet
I switch to the cursor tool, and select a slice in the Slices panel, but unlike in the normal mode, no transform handles appear. Why is this? I also cannot select a Slice in the Slice panel, and then enter a new transform in the Transform panel. Why is this so different from the normal mode? EDIT: Oh, my god... you do this with the slice tool... the one with the PLUS SIGN that signifies that you use it to create new slices with... urr... that, unfortunately, wasn't very apparent... why am I even allowed to move and edit my document (and the document objects only) with the cursror tool in the export persona? Very confusing. EDIT: Just to clarify why this is so confusing, because if you select the title bar with the slice tool and drag, you don't move the slice, you create a new one! You have to very specifically watch how the cursor looks when you move over a slice to see what will happen.

Why is this? If by "cursor tool" you mean the tool with same arrow-shaped icon as the Move Tool, on my Mac its tooltip calls it the "Slice Selection Tool." But from what I can tell experimentally (because I cannot find any mention of it in the built-in help) it isn't a slice selection tool at all. Instead it is a layer selection tool. So it is easily the worst named & documented tool in any Affinity app! 3 hours ago, eobet said: EDIT: Just to clarify why this is so confusing, because if you select the title bar with the slice tool and drag, you don't move the slice, you create a new one! You have to very specifically watch how the cursor looks when you move over a slice to see what will happen. The Slice Tool behaves differently if you click vs. click & drag. If you just click without dragging on an existing slice, the cursor changes to the 4 arrows pointing outward from a box one & then it acts like the Move Tool, revealing the control handles of the selected slice so you can resize it or drag it to a new position. If instead you click & drag it will create a new slice. You can also toggle between the move & new slice modes by shift-clicking on an existing slice. The status bar shows the various options for the Slice Tool but it still can be a bit confusing because of the odd choice for the name of the Slice Selection Tool. hawk 1 Quote All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.4.1 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7 Affinity Photo 1.10.8; Affinity Designer 1.108; & all 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.

R C-R
@carl123, if on Windows the arrow-shaped tool is just called the "Slice Tool," what is the square-shaped tool to its left in my screenshot called? carl123
Whoops, my mistake, it looks like the slice tool was selected in your screenshot and that was the tooltip for that tool Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. I could have been clearer about that.
