Mark Oehlschlager
I'm wanting to specify a half-width page within a facing pages Publisher document. So, for example, if the trim-size of the book is 8.5 x 11, I would like for the leaf containing pages 5 & 6 to be 4.25 x 11, and then for the remaining pages to resume at 8.5 x 11. However, when I go into the Spread Setup dialog, and target a particular page for resizing, say the left or verso page, both pages in a facing page spread resize – that is to say that both the left and right, or verso and recto pages resize. Not what I'm trying to achieve. This appears to be a bug in the current version of Publisher. Am I overlooking something? Is there a way to achieve a short dimension for an internal page within a facing pages document?
walt.farrell
I doubt that's a bug, merely a capability that does not exist. Facing pages are the same size, today. Mark Oehlschlager
@walt.farrell Mmmm. If not a bug, what then is the significance of the "Set Dimensions of:" pop-up where the options are either Spread or Page?
walt.farrell
Perhaps (I'm not sure) to avoid you having to calculate what 2 times the page dimension is? Note that above that you are setting it for "the current spread (pages 2, 3)". There is nothing in that dialog that allowed you to select just one of the pages. Mark Oehlschlager
Mmmmm. Appears to be an issue that needs to be addressed by the dev team.
Staff Callum Posted October 4, 2019 Staff Share Posted October 4, 2019 What Walt has stated in his above posts is correct. I will move this to feature requests as it is not a bug. Mark Oehlschlager
@Callum Yes. Please do add this to the requests page. I would appreciate this feature. Additionally, could you clarify for me the intention behind the "Spread" and "Page" options under the pop-up menu for "Set Dimensions of:" in the Spread Setup dialog box? To me it implies that one should be able to adjust the dimensions of an entire spread, or an individual page. Thanks.
