3 for 3 - beta updates fail

Recommended Posts

Is it still worth reporting that updating the beta versions (and generally to release versions) fail after the point where the previous version was uninstalled?  I've sent logs a couple of times but apparently they weren't informative.  Just restart the PC and install the software as if it wasn't an update.  Works and not that much of a problem but still kind of klunky.  On rare occasions an update might work so there is apparently a right way to do things.  Posted here simply because it seems more active.  By the way, no exotic software.

Same here. I've stopped posting logs. This behavior first appeared in the Publisher betas and spread from there. I have a list of things to try that I received from Patrick O'Connor but RL has jumped in the way. of actually taking ab hour or so to go through it and document it.

You are not alone. Rebooting will let you install it as a fresh install

Rick G, we have told you why your particular problems are almost certainly due to the multitude of software that you are constantly running.

The restart & retry install works for almost everyone. We will write an FAQ that explains this for those affected.

Yes it does. Only after wiping out the installation. And upon reboot, it installs correctly IN SPITE of the programs you listed which are again, running.

Yet you can reboot and immediately install an update and it will fail until you reboot again ... after it has wiped out the previous installation

I will attempt your list before you write that FAQ

Thanks for the response

No sir that is not true. Aside from many other posts the person that started this post stated the same thing

Just restart the PC and install the software as if it wasn't an update

I am not trying to argue about it, but it has been reported by others
