Please support Japanese vertical writing.
This is the function most needed by Japanese.

Adobe uses this because it supports vertical writing in Japanese.

This is the only reason why I and my workplace cannot adopt “Affinity”.

If this problem is solved, “Affinity” may become the top share in the Japanese market.

 

 

Can Japanese donate development costs to support vertical writing in Japanese?

In Japan, Adobe dominates the market.

That is not good.

The Japanese market requires the emergence of competitors that compete with Adobe.

I hope that Affinity plays an active role for Japan.

Dear Serif,

I have decided to move from InDesign to Affinity Publisher as it is clear your software is so much faster and contains a suitable feature set.

My main project at this time is a series of 3 books with horizontal English text and vertical Japanese text on alternating pages. I agree with the OP, vertical text support for text boxes, unrelated to the underlying system language would be incredibly valuable. I was honestly hoping for it as there was evidently so many other excellent features.

I was very satisfied with the Affinity Design, until the moment I realized that unfortunately it does not have a tool for writing vertically (Japanese characters).
Do you intend to add this feature? If so, is there a date?

I'm new to these type of tools, but after hours and hours and hours and hours of research, I found affinity and clip studio to be the only software programs with the tools, quality, and pricing (actually far less than I thought!) for what I need. 

BUT as most things I do is either in English or Japanese. I desperately need fully support for Japanese. Most notably vertical writing and furigana.

 

I don't have much to add other than one more hopeful request!
