Sorry, but I don't see the problem there, @telemax.

First, though, a point of clarification: you would not be snapping "to" the midpoint of the line in your demonstration. Snapping to the midpoint of the line would require a second object that you were moving.

Rather, I believe you would be snapping something to the grid, and the items that can snap are either

  • the line itself, when you move it vertically, or
  • the endpoints of the line, or the midpoint of the line, when you move it horizontally.

To me it looks like that's what happened for you in both Automatic and Basic mode.
