AffDes&AffPhoto:Protractor (Assets) -re-upload

Now I've finally got there they are quite interesting assets. There are fewer moves in using a protractor to measure an angle than the alternative work-arounds.

Having a rule with a movable origin is a useful feature but they are not so useful for making accurate measurements i.e. from a technical drawing point of view. I asked a very long time ago if AD would ever have a 'Dimension' tool like DrawPlus had which I used a great deal. Sadly I do not think that it will ever happen in AD. When I want to dimension a drawing I have to draw rectangles from one point measuring point to another and then see what the it shows in the Transform tab. Its a real nuisance having to do that unless someone has better way to do it!

If voting made any difference it wouldn't be allowed!

Why so pessimistic, Jack? :/

Sorry to say but sheer experience of AD!

We are encouraged to make suggestions for new features. What we are never told is just how reasonable or practical the suggestions are. It would be good if the AD developers showed a list of new suggested features, as opposed to their own, that have a reasonable chance of becoming a reality. As it stands we just live in hope.

It seems to me that we’re really talking about patience here. A couple of years ago you could be forgiven for thinking that AD would never have arrowhead line ends, but it has them now.

When I'm told to be patient about something, by whoever, it usually mean it will happen eventually. If there is no chance of it ever happening then asking me to be patient is just fobbing me-off!

We would still just live in hope if there were a list of suggested new features that have a reasonable chance of becoming reality. However “reasonable” the chance, it would be nothing more than a chance (and therefore far from being guaranteed).

I have been told in the past, when asking why some of the DP features (Dimension tool) could not be added to AD that it was because of the two different OS. Stuff that was on DP (Windows) could not be modified to fit AD (Mac). I think that is why I feel the a dimension tool is not going to happen.

Options for line ends have been added to the Stroke panel.
