Changes in this build

The changes in Affinity Publisher for macOS 1.7.3 (made since the last release Affinity Publisher 1.7.2) are as follows:

  • Fix for Text on a Path handle snapping / jumping.
  • (Win) Character page dropdowns not working when using select tool.

Print and Export

  • (Mac) Fix for crash printing CMYK documents with Embedded RGB documents.
  • (Mac) PDF Export: Allow advanced features checkbox was missing.

General

  • Fix for masked adjustment groups drawing incorrectly.
  • Fixed odd behaviour with transform panel adjusting size of sheared objects.
  • (Win) Fix for failures when installed to folder with a non-ANSI path.
  • Fixed failure to import .ABR brushes.
  • Fixes for stability issues that have been logged with us.
  • Plus Translation and Help updates.

This thread is for commenting on this announcement. Please do not post bugs or problems that you find when using this version of the software in this thread, instead make a new thread in the Publisher Bugs on macOS section and questions about usage go in the Desktop Questions forum.

UPDATING TO THIS VERSION (Free for existing customers)

The software version can be seen on the splash screen and the About dialog (in application menu, Affinity Publisher > About).

If you’ve purchased from the Mac App Store— updates are done automatically next time you run your software after it is available in the Mac App Store. If this does not happen for you, open the Mac App Store app and go to the Updates page and then Store > Reload page or press CMD+R. This should hopefully force the update to show. Apple sometimes phase roll outs around the world which can mean it may take up to 72 hours for your update to be available.

If you’ve purchased from the Affinity Store— each time you start the software it will check for updates and offer to download and install any available update, or in the application main menu there is an option Check for Updates. You can download the latest installer by logging into the affinity store here and find the order in your account and use the "download" button in there. Alternatively, this new release (and previous versions of Affinity Publisher for macOS) can be downloaded from this link (that installer is NOT for Mac App Store purchases and needs a product key).

Still no straight through PDF placement though. :(

If you have not seen it in our customer beta builds it is unlikely to be a in our release builds.

Not really, I'm saying that something as major as this would need a long beta cycle to check it and so you can predict what is likely to be included before it's a release build. Update announcement posts are not a good place to list feature requests that didn't make it as there are hundreds of them outstanding, and so I'm kind of discouraging everyone doing this here, and describing a way for you and others to not be disappointed in the release notes. Sorry if it seemed clumsy.

How is the compatibility with MacOS Catalina?

Publisher has no particular issues with Catalina, but Affinity Photo has a slight problem talking back to the Photos app, that we think will be resolved by Apple

Dear Affinity,

I finally bought Affinity Publisher in the Black Friday sale (with the comic illustration pack.)

That completes the acquisition of the  'Holy Trinity' of Affinity apps.

I'm looking forward to using Affinity Publisher  (and Designer, Photo...) to set up and publish my comic book.

Well done on the launch of Publisher and the storm rider pace of improvement.

Powerful, personable and well priced apps.  That's all any customer wants i.e. a company that 'gets it.'  Who understands and is responsive to their customer base.

Azrael.
