Guus
Is it possible to make a new keyboard shortcut in Affinity Publisher? So not change an existing shortcut but make a new one.
walt.farrell
Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. It depends on what you want to make a shortcut for. Some functions have shortcuts defined. Some that are defined can be changed. Some do not have shortcuts defined, but allow you to define a shortcut. For others, there is no shortcut and you cannot define one. If you mean assign 2 different shortcuts to the same function, in general I do not think that is possible but I can see how it could be useful Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. Guus
What I want is a shortcut for the Eurosign. In almost all programs you can use control-alt-5. In Affinity you have to go in the menu or you have to use alt 0128. It is more convenient if you can use a real shortcut for the Eurosign. What menu entry will let you insert a Euro sign? I don't see that, but if it exists that might give you a way to set a shortcut. Wosven
This isn't an application level shortcut, but an OS shortcut. You'll have to use a program to map this new shortcut for your keyboard, or an application like WinCompose on Windows, unless APub add this symbol to the insert menu. On the French keyboard, AltGr+E is the shortcut for €.

Can I use this for a kind of Hotkey? Thanks. And no, you can't. Personally, I would use Alt+0128 on the numeric keypad. Or find another application to assist, as Wosven suggested. Guus
OK, Alt+0128 seems the best way. Thank you all for the answers.
Wosven
If you keyboard is one of the Qwerty ones that use ctrl+alt+5 to write "€", perhaps the problem is reversed. Did you tried searching Affinity shortcuts to find if ctrl+alt+5 is assigned to something else? If so, you'll have to reasign this one to free ctrl+alt+5. Guus
After trying a lot I found that the right Alt +5 gives me the €. Real supprise for me..... But this is a good solution for me. On my Qwerty keybord the combination ctrl+alt+5 is not working in Affinity Publisher. For all the other programs I use (and that is a lot) there is no problem. R C-R
FWIW, on Macs with U.S. keyboards the combination of shift, option, & the 2 key enters the "€" character. This works in almost all apps, the Affinity ones included.
