capturleat
Hello everyone! I hope someone can help me, as the title says I am unable to get a hard edge using the erase tool in AD Pixel Persona. I'm hoping it's just something very straightforward that I'm doing wrong but for the life of me, I can't figure out what. I'll attach a screenshot of a test image here to clearly illustrate the issue. As shown, I have hardness currently set to 100% and to confirm, there is no change no matter where else I drag the slider to. If this has already been raised, then my apologies. So far though my searching hasn't found it already asked/answered. Thanks in advance of any help, would be much appreciated.

capturleat
@Pšenda thanks for your reply. The brush settings in 'More' are looking like this, I'll attach...
walt.farrell
You'll notice the brush profile looks soft in that dialog, probably due to the flow jitter that you have specified. Try setting that to 0. capturleat
Hi Walt, thank you I've just given that a try but to no avail. It does look soft doesn't it, that's what I don't understand since the hardness is set to 100%. I have no memory of ever having previously tinkered with these more settings on the erase tool specifically but yes look, having done so, it remains the same:

The suggestion may still be valid, but the brush selection dialogue may not be exactly as shown in my screen shot. Pšenda
@capturleat, try another (hard) brush in Brush panel. capturleat
@Greyfox and @Pšenda thank you both, I've just tried those two things as well but unfortunately, the problem still remains.
carl123
Hold the CTRL key down when starting the app, select all items in the pop-up menu that appears and continue. This should set everything back to their defaults If you have added any custom brushes or assets etc make sure you have backups of these before doing the above Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. capturleat
Thank you @carl123. I may do this, I don't know I'm thinking about it. In truth though I'm pretty scared now to go ahead with such a huge next step since just now, having already reset brushes as suggested above, comfortable in the knowledge that all custom brush packs are in my PC downloads to reinstall, so far only two have worked. With all the rest, I simply get an 'Error importing brushes' message. This whole mess has really cut into my work time, starting to get really upset, my schedule is tight...I may go back to Adobe, might have to...I'll weigh up my options before deciding what next. Again thank you though, for having taken the time to respond and that goes to all who did so. If I do manage to fix the problem/s, I'll post here again to say so. capturleat
Installing the Beta has worked, not only for importing brushes but also, the eraser tool in the beta version is functioning correctly. Many thanks again @carl123.
Salpal
I am now experiencing this exact issue in Affinity Designer 2. Was there no resolution other than a bug fix?

Do you mean a software repair intervention? As is clear from the previous posts, it was only a local problem in the configuration/installation of the application, which was solved by resetting it.
