A Poem On Caring For Someone With Dementia

Here is a poem which attempts to convey some of the challenges faced by caring for someone a relative with dementia. It is an experimental layout in Affinity Publisher.

I found the layer effect emboss quite useful for adding interest to the page. Particularly using the invert option to create something unexpected. Adding 3D to the text also helped the output look far more interesting.

Hi Michael. I lost my wife at the beginning of June after 5 years in a care home with Altzheimers.

Over this last 5 years I have used AD to make design drawings of a special kind of door handle that only allows that person to access their own room. The biggest problem for care home dementia units is 'wandering' residents and the attendant problems for residents, staff and relatives. I am close to finishing the design and prototypes and hope to get the devices marketed.

If voting made any difference it wouldn't be allowed!

Rules are for the guidance of wise men and the obedience of fools.

To be ignorant of world happenings is forgivable - to be willingly ignorant is unforgivable.

Truth does not need to be protected only lies do.
