Regarding your first question, “Where did it go?” It was not visible at that point because you were in preview mode, and as it was empty and you clicked away from it, there was nothing to show (since preview mode is supposed to give you a look at the finished result).

On your second point, I suspect creating new objects (such as your picture frame) does not affect wrap by default because there probably would be significant performance hits if every new object affected wrap unless explicitly turned off for that object.

On those two points, I think the software is performing reasonably. I use pinning too infrequently to offer a helpful opinion on your other points.
