I got the Save failed because the file could not be written to.

Recommended Posts

I just got the error "Savefailedbecause the file could not be written to."

I was working on local hard drive, did not move any files. I lost hours of work because there was not autosave.

Can you help solve this problem?

I just got this error too on Designer...and of course hadn''t saved for like 2 hours as i was tunnel vision on my project. Is there an autosave feature that I need to enable?

"Save failed because the file could not be written to."

Trying everything now to save it

1. Tried copying layers to new document, no go

2. Tried saving to a different location, no go

3. Trying to save to a external HD, no go

4. Cant even save a blank document so its an app issue not the document...

other notes:

HD was running low on space while app is open suspecting possible issue there, have since freed up but its like the app doesnt realize there is room now, also would have thought an extern al drive would solve this saving issue.

app is still open but seems like a lost ship at the moment

Any thoughts to try anyone?

update 1: Found @Walt.Farrel post re: autosave - Thank you

update 2: Found my autosave folder but my autosave is not there , closed AD and lost about 2 hours of work. slightly disappointed that such an error can occur.
