hello

i'm trying to design a logo for my scouts. We would like to print this logo on thirts and sweaters/hoodies. The problem i have is that the text needs to be transparent so it has the color of the tshirts. I looked it up and i came across the substract option but can't get it working.

Is there somebody that can help me or explain it to me? I provided the document to make it a little clearer for you. (PS. Real noobie overhere)

Grtz. Warre

Since the background layer is a raster (pixel) layer, the simplest way to make the text transparent is to set its group to the erase blend mode & place it above the background layer. logos.afdesign has both the black & white versions. Hide the "black logo" group layer to see the white version.

Had some spare time so I vectorised the white background. I've changed the colour just so you can see the logo but it's easily changed to white again.

  • Exported the white part of the logo to a png file
  • Imported the exported png to a vectorising app
  • Exported out as an SVG file
  • Opened in Affinity Designer and copied (CMD + C)
  • Pasted into the original tryout file and scaled to match the original white pixel logo
  • Selected the Node Tool and closed the curve, Context Menu - Action: Close Curve
  • selected all the letters and boolean added them
  • Removed the letter curves from the group and placed them above the white
  • Checked Fill Mode (Alternate (Odd - Even)
  • Selected black letters curve and white vectorised logo and boolean subtracted.

This is what I ended up with.

Owkey, i just tried some more and i think i'm getting there. I'm at the third step from the bottom. This is the file now. What do you mean with ''Removed the letter curves from the group and placed them above the white''? Literally drag the letters group above the SVG file we just added? If so then were can i find the fill mode option?

Thanks again, grtz Warre
