catlover
Maybe a stupid question, but I simply can't get a grid to align via the Grid Manager to the exact center of a spread . To see what I mean : In the attached pic the page is A4 (cm), I manually aligned the H & V center via the Guides manager, Spread Origin, (checked via snapping manager snap to spread, include spread midpoints) so as to pinpoint the center, e.g. the red lines. Then I drew the square (46mm) just to make the center show up a little more obvious. Then I chose the Grid&Axis manager, selected a 1cm square preset. The centers do not coincide. Is there any setting I can change to get the Grid to coincide with the center of a spread - any spread ? I have the Decimal Places in Prefs set to mm=1, cm=2, m=2 Thanks for any input ! Staff Dan C Posted September 18, 2019 Staff Share Posted September 18, 2019 Hi catlover The 'spread origin' setting in Guides doesn't affect Grids, however you can manually set the starting origin for your grid so it aligns with the centre of your spread. With the Grid Manager open, tick Show axis editing handles. You should see a red/green tool handle appear at the top left of your spread, which you can manually move to align as you see fit! Hope this helps GarryP 1 Quote Please Note: I am now out of the office until Tuesday 2nd April on annual leave. catlover
Hya, Dan. A VERY BIG THANK YOU !!! Problem sorted. BTW : Maybe someone at Serif could take the trouble to make a list of all those little "How To's" that make life so much easier for the user. Staff Dan C Posted September 19, 2019 Staff Share Posted September 19, 2019 No problem at all! We're looking into creating an FAQ/knowledge base that would hopefully complement the help file for these 'How to' situations Quote Please Note: I am now out of the office until Tuesday 2nd April on annual leave. Is it possible to lock this position? That tool handle still is selectable and thats a bit annoying when using the center as a starting point for objects. GarryP
Uncheck the “Show Axis Editing Handles” option in the Grid and Snapping Axis Manager. Basically the opposite of what Dan said above. Alfred
