decimate555
Hello, I've noticed that when importing a photo (tested with stock palette) and dragging from the corners to enlarge/shrink while holding down shift-option for example it does not constrain to keep its proportion the same way the shape objects do. It also has this issue with vector curves that become rasterized, all of a sudden it won't constrain the same way it just did when in it was in vector form. Very confusing as I or any one else would reasonably expect the same behaviour for either pixel or vector objects. Perhaps, I'm missing something and some "constrain'like" checkbox option needs to be checked off somewhere? Even if that were the case, it should be default, right? This is still happening as of the RC2 version. Thanks
A_B_C
Have you seen the preferences option? :) But you are right, there seems to be a bug. The constrain settings are not honoured by placed images … and theres also a display bug on the context tool bar, shown at the end of my video … Cheers, Alex
decimate555
I very much appreciate you posting that video A_B_C, I really need to get more familiar with the preference panel. I'm still scratching my head about the difference between constrain by default and don't by default, not seeing much of a difference between the behaviour on both options, could you possibly elaborate just a little bit more? I also posted a bug report just earlier about the truncated text on high values for the tool bar, thanks for also showing that on the video. Appreciated. Dave Harris
Our default behaviour depends on whether we consider the object to have a natural aspect ratio. Text and images have, so we figure when you scale it you probably want to preserve it and not get a squished image. Vector shapes generally don't, and for those we figure constraining aspect ratio would be annoying more often than not. You can always get the other behaviour by holding Shift, and as A_B_C has said you can change the default from Preferences. (For what it's worth, I prefer Constrain by default, even for vectors.) Indeed there is no difference (while there certainly should be one) :) … and that’s why I called it a bug ;) … can anyone else confirm this issue? Dave Harris
A_B_C, the Select tool only updates its behaviour when the selection changes, not when the Preferences changes. If you click away, and then click back again on the image, it should then honour your preference. A_B_C
A_B_C
You are perfectly right, Dave … I thought it should update without deselecting the object … excuse me. Deleted the video from my original post …
