I am familiar with PS but mainly in photo retouching.

I am trying to blend 2 images and I am unable to open them as two separate layers. I have looked on the forum. Watched a few videos but none seen to indicate how these are actually opened to appear as two separate entities and I am only getting one layer sometimes with 2 images. Can you help a newbie please?

Thanks to all the of the above for their assistance. I followed @pietrach's advice and it worked. Thanks also to Stokerg who welcomed me to the forum. You will probably hear from me a bit. I am 89 years old tomorrow, the 13th September. (Black Friday) and I find that while Affinity Photo is as good as Photoshop if not better I now have quite a few different ways of doing things than I previously did.
