MikeK36
I have "check spelling while you type" selected. Nothing is highlighted when I type a mis-spelled word and nothing happens when I have finished typing and select Text>Spelling>Spelling Thanks in advance
Alfred
Check that the language for the selected text is set to something other than ‘None’. stokerg 1 Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.4.1 (iPad 7th gen)

If so, can you supply a small sample file for us to look at? stokerg 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. iPad: iPad Pro M1, 12.9": iPadOS 17.4.1, Apple Pencil 2, Magic Keyboard Mac: 2023 M2 MacBook Air 15", 16GB memory, macOS Sonoma 14.4.

Ikikuru
Hey Guys, Can I just ask how you 'set and forget' the language, i had the same problem thinking spelling was not working. I already have a document I want to check, where do I go to select the language and make it stick for all the text boxes, I can select English from the Language section on the right hand side, but it always reverts to unknown. Cheers,
walt.farrell
The language will default to the language you've chosen for the User Interface, assuming you have those dictionaries installed. (Or possibly to the language you've chosen for the system, though this behavior may differ between Mac and Windows.) If you want to use a different language, you can: Draw your first Text Frame, open the Character studio panel, and choose the spelling language in the Language section. It should hold for the rest of the frames you draw, unless you assign a paragraph style or character style. Or Use a paragraph style that has the language you want specified. You can make this easier by modifying the Base paragraph style and specifying your language there, as other styles will inherit the spelling language from Base. If you want this to be permanent, and across documents, you can use the Text Styles studio panel, which has an option in the hamburger/settings menu to make your current styles the defaults.
