Hey there,

I can't figure out how to have sharp edges on a layer that has a Gaussian blur effect. If I cut the edges with a mask, the edges are blurry... Is there a way to have them sharp?

Hi balqan,
I'm assuming you are using a live Gaussian Blur filter. If so, the built-in mask only affects the output of the filter which is still applied to the whole layer - meaning anything hidden by the mask will still contaminate the unprotected (now blurred) area. Let me know if I haven't addressed your issue correctly.

Thanks for getting back to me. Is there a way to apply the effect to the layer even if I would sacrifice the control over it, like merging the layer with the effect to another one or some other workaround?

Hi Hi balqan,
Any chance you can attach a screenshot of your workspace with the layers panel visible? We can advise you much better if you know what you are trying to achieve and how you have the layer stack structured. There's various ways to approach this.

Try clicking Preserve Alpha when using the Live Gaussian blur filter
