Failed to Save File

Hi

I have encountered problem with saving file in Designer.

Steps:

1. Working and updating Designer document

2. Save or Save as

3. Error screen: Failed to save file. This should be reported

4. The file is created (in case of Save As...), but when trying it open error occured

5. Opening the file error: Failed to open. The file type is not supported.

After restarting Designer, same error occurs.

Anything what could be done with this on my side?

Thank you

Also, where are you trying to save it to? Is it a local drive, or a network drive, or ...?

Hi Arghmath,

This sounds like something might have gone wrong with your file. Are you able to open the file, add a single shape and then save it? Does that still give you issues? I assume the files it does create are actually 0kb?

Would it be possible for you to attach your file that you're working on that is giving you this trouble please?

Sorry for the late reply.

Yes I think the it is related to the damaged file, however the problem seems to be with the saving. Yes it was possible to edit the file. Unfortunately the file can not be posted here to public forum. IF the problem occurs again, is there any place where to report bugs directly except forum?

@Arghmath - Having the same issue with Publisher. Lost a few files because of this.

One of the files give me the error "The file type is not supported" which may be caused by the corrupt file have a size of 0 KB.

Is there any attachment to your file and it possibly being an Illustrator file at one time? Perhaps originally created in AI, but then saved as EPS then opened in AD and saved and worked on as a Designer file?

Hope a solution is found soon.

Saving worked fine BEFORE the 1.7 update. I changed nothing in my laptop, only the version changed.

Hmm, maybe this could be it. I was thinking what could cause the problem with the saving error, and now I just realized, that I did update to the newer version that time...and the saving start working after I've had restarted my computer.

add pruus: Yes even new name doesn't work. The file name is created --> I can see it on the local drive, but it's corrupted.

add walt.farrell: Local SSD nvme in standard project folder.

It's UWP version or desktop version? I find out that UWP fail but desktop version can save files successfully. Both are newest softwares.
