Peter S
I installed version 1.7.2 on my iPad and my apple pencil will work with the pixel brush but not with the paint brush. Is there something I am missing?
Butler To Cats
Designer (Pixel persona) or Photo? Have you enabled the Force Pressure setting in the options at the bottom of the screen?
Staff DWright Posted September 3, 2019 Staff Share Posted September 3, 2019 Can you please let me know the if you are using a pencil 1 or 2 and you iPad model number and if possible a screenshot of your paint brush settings when this issue occurs. Peter S
Yes I believe I have enabled the Force Pressure setting. I think I am using a pencil 1. One odd thig is I recently installed Affinity Designer and my pencil works on the paint brush in that app. Attached is a screen shot. Peter S
I checked again and the model number begins with N.
fde101
I was curious about this so I looked it up: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8425274 According to that page, "N" is apparently substituted when a device is provided as a replacement for a broken one. "F" is used for refurbished devices. Alfred

Peter S
How do I turn off the protect alpha?
Staff MEB Posted September 4, 2019 Staff Share Posted September 4, 2019 Hi Peter S, Welcome to Affinity Forums, Tap the Protect Alpha button in the context toolbar on bottom (visible in your screenshot above). The blue outline/highlight around it should disappear when turned off and you should be able to paint with the Paint Brush Tool again in all areas.
