John Rostron
Where did your 'before develop' image come from? You cannot display an undeveloped raw file. Either you have used the associated jpeg embedded in the raw file, or you used another raw file processor. What changes did you make in your raw file? What differences did you expect to see between 'before' and 'after'. Rob_Davidson
I too am losing detail refinement when leaving the Develop persona. I exaggerated the amount of refinement here for illustration purposes. Original Raw Detail Refinement set to maximum Refinement lost upon leaving the Develop persona This did not happen to me prior to updating to version 1.7 Any help appreciated, Rob Davidson Edited September 9, 2019 by Rob_Davidson
John Rostron
It is difficult to assess these differences from screenshots unless the image is displayed onscreen at 100%. Even then it could well be compressed by the forum software. You could upload both your original raw file and the developed image (preferably in a lossless format such as png). Or you can take screenshots of the 100% view but cropped to (say) 640 x 480 pixels and save these as png images. Dazzler
I just did a quick test on Photo 1.7.2.471 (Windows) and my detail refinement stays put when I develop, however I don't have any RAW files here to test it on, only jpegs, if that makes any difference? Staff Dan C Posted September 9, 2019 Staff Share Posted September 9, 2019 Hi Rob_Davidson, Welcome to the forums This is happening due to a few reasons, firstly when in the Develop Persona you're editing the RAW file in a 32bit workspace, when you develop the image you'll find that the app automatically converts this to a 16bit image. You can change this in the Develop Assistant settings, in the Develop Persona go to View>Assistant Manager.. and change the relevant dropdown option from 16bit to 32bit. Secondly, when viewing your document at less than 100% zoom, Affinity will use Mipmaps (covered here - https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/93605-sharpness-enhancement-with-detail-refinement-gets-lost-during-raw-development/&do=findComment&comment=498641) which can cause certain effects to appear differently - most commonly sharpening. We recommend using 100% zoom or higher when applying these adjustments, as outlined in the below post from James - I hope this helps! Quote Please note - I am currently out of the office for a short while whilst recovering from surgery (nothing serious!), therefore will not be available on the Forums during this time. Should you require a response from the team in a thread I have previously replied in - please Create a New Thread and our team will be sure to reply as soon as possible. Many thanks! Rob_Davidson
Thank you John and Dan. I set my Develop Persona to 32 bit and viewed the image at 100% pror to clicking "Develop". The detail refinement was now the same in bow the Develop and the Photo personas. Odd that I didn't notice this until after the 1.7 update. SchwedenPaule
Hi, I also have this issue - when working with jpgs (not RAW-files). (The Detail-Refinement is lost after I close Develop Persona. Also when I export the image (as jpg) the changes are NOT applied.) Its very annoying. And zooming to 100% or whatever is no solution / not very comfortable.. it really needs to be fixed. DaFaDa
I Know this is an older post, But I just started using this (1.10.4.1198), and as soon as the processing is finished, the new Raw Image no longer has the Detail refinement clarity.
