I just bought a new Dell XPS 15 (2019) and Affinity Designer wont start. I also have Affinity Photo and that is ok, no problems. Is there some kind of framework needed for Designer that I need to install?

Photo and Designer have the same infrastructure requirements.

We may need more information to resolve your problem, such as where you purchased the applications (Serif Affinity Store, or Windows Store), but I'll start with a guess. As it's a new computer, you probably just installed both programs.

If you purchased from the Serif Affinity Store, then when you installed them, did you accept the suggested install locations (C:\Program Files\Affinity\Photo and C:\Program Files\Affinity\Designer) or did you change them? Changing them is OK, but you cannot install both programs into the same directory. Each needs its own directory, and if you installed Designer into a directory, and then installed Photo into the same directory, you would get the symptoms you've reported.

If you made that mistake, you need to uninstall both programs, and reinstall them.

Glad to hear it's fixed itself, somehow.
