Why is it faster to manually replace all images than to use Resource Manager's Update?

Recommended Posts

I can manually go through my document and click 'replace' on each image to replace it with an updated version which will take (at most) a couple of seconds. However, when I update a single image using Document Resource Manager, it can take more than a minute per 'Update' click.

Shouldn't it be faster to 'update' than to delete and reinsert/replace an existing image?

Yes. (images range from 100k to 2.5 mb)

It feels like after you click 'Update' on the Resource Manager that the application rescans the entire document checking for other changed images.

However, when you simply click 'replace' and select the same image, it doesn't rescan the document.

thanks,

Jim
