Bug - Text wrapping

With this recent .svg I see unexpected wrapping results partially inside the non-transparent area of the image even in "Tight" mode. Also "Inside" and "Edge" seem to be affected by some wrapping confusion. To make it visible I have set the color mode of the svg to multiply – else the unexpected text inside would just been been swallowed and that way be missing and in the text outside the svg.

First remark: the wrapping doesn't work with picture frames.  Does this mean there's only to be use as placeholders on master pages, but with limited usability?

Second: it's working with PNG (and perhaps TIFF or other image format with transparency), but not SVG and AFDESIGN files.

Thirdly: Since for now APub can't ignore inner blank/transparent areas, you should use enough "distance from text", at least as much as your larger inner tranparent zone, to avoid text inside.

Fourth: with this simple form, I would use a round placeholder or use round corners if I'm lazy and had it already in a square.

Fifthly: it would be interesting with vector files* to be able to select one of the curves as "détourage"/path for the wrapping! (Organized one would draw and name appropriately one in their file**, or should it be a curve cropping the layer? but it would prevent multiple curves as we need in a same image sometimes).

* We can add a path in JPG, but it can be improved, and different paths would be better.

** With linked documents, we can double-click to open it in another tab, copy and paste an appropriate curve from this linked file in the APub document, to convert it to picture frame and paste the image/linked document inside, but it can be easier or simpler.

I'm not sure what you mean by that. For me, text wrapping does work with Picture Frames:

Note that I'm on Windows. If you're on Mac and it's not working for you, perhaps that's a bug.

I wanted to said, since it's the subject, wrapping doesn't interact with the transparency of the image inside a picture frame, it's wrapped on the container only.

With other apps, it can ignore the container and follow the transparency or ignore white colour around the drawing for wraping the text around*.

* And you can usually reffine this "selection" and enlarge the resulting selection that behave like a path (with ID, you can modify this path too).

In Afpub this option opens with the middle button: 686289632_textwrapbuttons1-3.jpg.186c4a20c7f449fbe479766bc7a1d70e.jpg

Yes, it does. However, with a Picture Frame you're still adjusting the wrap based on the frame, not based on the content of the frame. That means that you can't follow the outline of the content and get the wrap to follow the transparency of the content.

Compare, for example:

image.png.a7bdcd0900b6df2964db3b9f3ad0fa4f.png

which is adjusting the wrap around the picture frame, with

image.png.417dbbca66c1a76b020afc2e9baa6f88.png

where I am adjusting the wrap of an image with transparency that is placed directly into the text, not in a Picture Frame.

That's really basic: you've got a square/rectangle, and are switched to the node tool to modify it, that's not the app giving you an approximate path created from the tranparent area.

Tha's why it is faster to open the file and copy-add some curves from the original vector design (for tranparent other images, you'll have to draw the shape).

I've logged this, as I think we should be wrapping correctly around that SVG, we do for other linked/embedded documents that contain alpha.

If you rasterise it it will wrap as you'd expect (the wrapping in the middle of that SVG when this is done is interesting, I had to adjust the wrap outline and remove those inner nodes to get it to wrap as I would expect)

We believe the issue "No wrapping around SVG that contains alpha" has been fixed in 1.8.0 [Publisher beta is currently available if you care to check].
