max3.2
Hi, is there a way to change a swatch color and propagate that change back to all the objects using this swatch? It is possible in Illustrator and makes color style changes fast and easy. I know there's symbols but that's not the same...Quick description in detail what I want to do: 1) Create a swatch palette, create a swatch 2) Make several shapes and color them by selecting a swatch 3) Change the color of the swatch (how?) 4) All objects with that swatch change color. Cheers!
Wosven
For this, you need to make your swatches global (with add global colour in the menu or making it global right-clicking on your swatch). But you'll have to apply again this global colour to each of your objects. It's best to begin with creating different global colours in a document's palette and using them (or choosing Pantone colours), and modifying them later to specific colours. Wosven
It is possible, but: You've already draw an illustration: you select an object and convert its colour to global colour. One done, you need to select all the objects or stroke or part that use this same colour and attribute this global colour, since if you select them, you'll see that they use the "old" colour, when it wasn't global. Next steps: doing the same with all the colours used in this illustration... You begin a new illustration: each time you use a new colour, you convert it to global colour (don't forget to attribute this global colour to the selected object). It's easier to use global colours in a new or simple document, it'll take longer if you need to use them in complexe illustrations with a lot of colours or objects, since you'll have to select each one of them to apply the new colours (it won't be done automagically).
