@v_kyr, the Finder is no DAM in the meaning of DAM ;)

@Peter, unfortunately this still is an often missing feature:

https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/search/&q=DAM&type=forums_topic&nodes=65,5&search_and_or=or&search_in=titles&sortby=relevancy

It appears that Affinity can't work with each DAM even for JPG files. For instance to me an image dragged from a DAM into AfPublisher creates a text frame with meta data incl. all keywords – instead of the image itself.

What's DAM mean in this context?

See: Digital Asset Management

It's something usually more useful for big media agencies, newspaper publishers, professional photographers, etc.  What most hobbyist/amateur people here in the forum do instead associate with the term DAM is at best only just some cheap software for indexing/cataloging their photos and by far not what full blown DAMs are initially meant for.

Finder on macOS works great, if one takes the time to organize their folder structure on dedicated drive; organization is key. As PS Lightroom and Bridge are separate features, IMHO, if Serif develops DAM, I think it should also be optional purchase.  I thank them for their continued focus of fixing bugs and improving existing products.

Keyword handling in Finder leaves a lot to be desired...

True.  I add numerical dates, 08212019 etc., after name for all my saved photos.  Knowing the folder and date adds functionality to my process.  May I add Affinity Photo is a hobby, not a professional business.  I can totally appreciate the difference DAM has for professionals. Have a great day.

If you were to use the YYYYMMDD date format instead of MMDDYYYY, listing the photos in alphanumerical order would put them in date order, too (e.g. ‘Blue-Ridge-20181225’, ‘Blue-Ridge-20190731’, ‘Blue-Ridge-20190821’).

Alfred thanks for your suggestion; however, I have a rule to wait until broken, before I fix, lol. It’s a great suggestion, if I implemented years past. Thank you, your post are always welcome.  I guess my main point to this thread, as a hobby, I don’t need a DAM (n) program.

Shouldn't that be "...DAM(ned)..." <nitpick mode off>

There are a bunch of MacOS enhancements in this regards in the latests MacOS versions and by many third party tools. Not to name all the automator based scripts and possible add-ons here for sorting and storing into dedicated user defined places etc.

Hi!

I am wondering if there would be a nice DAM on Mac/Ipad that could handle the afphoto files. Does someone has any idea about this?

Have you tried NeoFinder?
