New laptop and setup

Recommended Posts

Hi - my question is a little bit similar:  (uh, this is not an answer to the question above...hope I'm not messing up his question)

I see Affinity is generous regarding one license=more than one computer. (as long as not for commercial purposes)

However, am interested to buy a license for my macbook pro- which is actually my work computer. Shortly (next month hopefully) I will buy a personal laptop and would like to install Affinity on it,  but I am not sure if I will get a Mac or a PC. If I purchase a PC, will I have to pay for a new license?

thank you,

Julia

Hello Mario and Julia,

Thanks to you both for using our apps.

The good news is that you can install your software on as many PC's/Laptops that you personally own and use. The same applies to a Mac but if you wish to use the software on both platforms you would need to purchase a separate Licence.

I hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

Andy

@mariopasqui

I believe, from your previous mention of using a PC, that you are running the Windows version of an Affinity product?  If so, where did you purchase the licence, from the Microsoft Store or direct from Serif?

If it was from the M$ Store you simply need to log into the store on your new computer, using the same email address as that used on your old computer, and you will be able to download and install your software, no licence key needed.

If you purchased direct from Serif go to your Affinity account page here, sign in, and go to your Downloads page, where you will find the software and your licence key.

Should you actually have a Mac computer and your new laptop is also a Mac, you need to log into the Mac App Store and download your software to the new computer, exactly the same as for the M$ Store.

You just need to remember that each different OS, Windows, Mac, iPad, has its own licence system which is not transferable to another OS, e.g. you need separate licences if you wish to use any Affinity software on a Windows PC and a Mac.

As you’re probably aware, Jeff, the Mac versions of the Affinity apps have also been available direct from Serif (through the Affinity Store) for the past year or so.

Not being a Mac user/owner I had forgotten that Serif now sell the Mac versions directly.  Thanks for the reminder!
