Move tool modifiers available in Affinity Photo for iPad?

Recommended Posts

The desktop version of Affinity Photo has a series of helpful Move tool modifiers available in the toolbar. Which of these are also available in the iPad version either as a button, a menu option, or as a multi-touch modifier?

  • Enable Transform Origin (I'm particularly interested in this one)
  • Hide Selection while Dragging
  • Show Alignment Handles
  • Transform Objects Separately
  • Cycle Selection Box

Just now, DM1 said:

No, but they are available in Designer for iPad.

That's precisely what made me ask the question. They've been implemented so well in Designer for iPad. You'd expect similar functionality in Photo, at least when using the Shapes tool.

Hi Ulysses :)

As DM1 has mentioned these are only currently available in Designer for iOS - the exact reason for this I'm currently uncertain, however I've requested a response from our QA/Dev team and will hopefully have a better explanation shortly!

Please Note: I am now out of the office until Tuesday 2nd April on annual leave.

If you require urgent assistance, please create a new thread and a member of our team will be sure to assist asap.

Many thanks :)

According to our QA team it appears these have been accidentally omitted from the latest version of AP iOS  and so I'm logging this as a big with our development team now. I'll respond here in due course with any pertinent information!

@Dan C Hi, is there any update on this? It seems I cannot multi select easily without this context menu, and I would also like to be able to use the rotate center tool. The lack of this panel is strange to me, since Photo on Mac has it. I like using the rest of the app though!

Hi Talio,

Welcome to the forums :)

Unfortunately there's been no update as of yet on the dev report, I will bump this now and request a response asap - I hope this helps.

I bought Photo on iPad, current version 1.10.5. There’s still no Move modifier. It’s an odd omission, given how well implemented it is on Designer for iPad and Designer/Photo Desktop.

The Transform Origin and Transform Objects are powerful tools. But for Illustration and matte painting, the Hide Selection While Dragging is cruelly missing.
