Failed to Load Document? Help!

Recommended Posts

HI,

PLease can someone help with the below problem? We now have two files that wont open displaying the error in the image. Even though I can see the artwork, when I click close or the x icon the files close. There are 100's of hours worth of artwork in these files and strikes me as a big floor in the software if data is lost so easily!

Hopefully there is a fix?  though I have already tried saving the file as something else and saving the the desktop. Neither worked (We use google drive normally to store everything)

Thank you

Richard

Hi heroric,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
We recommend to not edit files directly from external drives/NAS (network drives/storage) and cloud synchronised folders as this may lead to lost of work/data due to loss of connection or files changes (in synchronised folders). Affinity apps don't load the whole file to memory for performance reasons and require a permanent connection/access to the file to ensure incremental saves/changes work properly. If the connection to the original file is lost we lose access to the required non-loaded data (to memory) to save the file to another location. Please use the internal drive when working with affinity files. We are looking into ways to improve this.

Can you please upload the files using this link to see if we can recover them? Thanks.

HI, Thank you, I have uploaded two files. There has been countless hours of work gone into these so I hope they can be recovered. Given the increased use of cloud storage, should this limitation not be up in flashing lights or communicated to all users - perhaps as a check box during install? I feel for anyone who is loosing all their hard work in such a way and hop you are able to develop a solution / fix. Regards, Richard
