Without having a sample file that demonstrates the problem it's hard to do anything but guess.

First guess: You have Baseline Grid enabled, and it's something to do with the interaction between leading and the grid.

Good to hear it's working, Jim.

Note that rather than uninstalling and reinstalling, a simpler approach is to hold the Ctrl key to perform a reset while starting the application. Press and hold Ctrl, then click on the application to start it. You'll get a special Reset dialog before the main dialog window appears. (On Windows you may need to click the application icon on the Task Bar.) You can select all the options and press Clear to do a full reset. Note that this will also delete any brushes you've installed or other items you've added (Assets, Styles, Text Styles, etc.).

Will:

Thanks for the help.  Most appears to be well now with two exceptions:

1) I cannot get text wrap settings to stick, neither Synchronize nor Save appear to work.

2) The footnote feature of PagePlus appears to have vanished.

1. Don't know anything about that; sorry.

2. Publisher is a totally different application from PagePlus. Nothing has vanished, it's just that footnotes haven't been implemented in the new application yet.

You're welcome.

If you think it's a bug, you can review/search the Publisher Bugs forums to see if you find a match, or post a topic of your own with more details (including screenshots, or movies) and a sample file that demonstrates the problem.

I may have seen something similar over there.

Hi Jim!  Used to live in Sunny San Diego (La Jolla) myself!  Miss the ocean and the sound of the Point Loma lighthouse on nights when the breeze was just right. Anyway.  The text wrap settings unfortunately cannot be synchronized and saved, even though Publisher HELP has stated that they can.  I have tried again recently and have posted this in the Publisher Bugs Forum.   For the present, each time you place an image you have to start from NONE.  It is a pain, but at least the wrap works beautifully!

I'm having trouble assigning leading to a text style. I don't know what proper settings should be. I can adjust the leading of a style by using the paragraph spacing window, but that does not get saved with the text style.

FWIW all I want is 10 point type with 12 point leading.

Thanks in advance - Chuck

I too am having leading issues.  I am using a 10 pt. font and specifically want my leading at 14, but it jumps to almost a double spacing from 12 pt (the automatic spacing for 10 pt font) to 13 pt and then does not adjust differently unit you hit 24 pt.  Something seems to be terribly amiss.

Sounds like you might have a Baseline grid active. That would override paragraph leading.

New user here, switching over from InDesign. I'm experiencing the same issue. I've tried the reset using the control button.  Haven't gone so far as to re-install. The "Align to Baseline Grid" box isn't activated. Video attached. Nothing moves like in the tutorial for leading when I scroll over the sizes either.

Welcome to the Serif Affnity forums.

Have you checked:

  • The Use Baseline Grid setting in the Text Frame studio panel?
  • The Use Baseline Grid setting in the Baseline Grid Manager?
  • The Leading Override in the Character studio panel?

Thanks, I was having the same problem and baseline grid was turn on for every new text frame I'd created.

I absolutely hate baseline grid. I've never intentionally used it in my 22 years of Prepress work. Any way that this can be turn off permanently in the app? A default OFF instead of default ON?

Thanks!

Try creating a new Text Frame, then making sure that items in the Context Toolbar are set as you'd like them to be by default. Then switch to the Text Frame panel, and make sure its settings are as you'd like (especially the Baseline Grid setting).

Then with the Text Frame still selected, use Edit > Defaults > Synchronize from Selection from the Menu, followed by Edit > Defaults > Save.

I on the other hand have yet to find a pattern to my love / hate use of baseline grids, comes and goes every 2 to 60 months.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4
Affinity Designer 2.4.0 | Affinity Photo 2.4.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
