Cannot ungroup text after Layer > convert to curves > expand stroke

I am trying to get the stroke that defines the hole in the letter "O" from a very specifically shaped font.   I use Layer > convert to curves > expand stroke. I see the frame change but nothing happens to the letter. I cannot ungroup the letter. And the strokes do not appear in different layers.

I have also tried Layer > convert to curves > release compound (it is greyed out).

Any ideas?

You could try using the Divide geometry tool perhaps after you convert to curves... Layer/Geometry/Divide or the Divide icon in the tool panel... this works for me.

I did Ungroup All and it worked.

I tried Ungroup All before and it did not work. The Layer/Geometry/Divide command worked. Many thanks!
