Clunk42 Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 Hi All Been banging my head against the wall all morning on this. Should be simple, but I can't figure out why its not working... I want to build a TOC that uses the Headings Style (I've set up) as its reference, for entries. But, when I "Insert TOC" the text box just has "No table of contents entries found", which is understandable as there are no Styles showing up in the last at the bottom of the panel. But I can't, for the life of me, get them to show up there (screenshot attached). I've had an exhaustive search through the forum, to no avail - the only thing that slightly touched on it was having deleted the "Base" style(s), which I think I did, when I first started playing with Publisher (not wanting a load of 'generic' styles in my document, just the ones I'd created, which seems a pretty normal thing to do/want). If this is the root of the problem, I have tried all sorts of things to 'recover' these "base" styles, I saw mentioned, again to no avail. Any suggestions as to how I can get my styles to show up in the TOC panel, so I can choose which ones I want to 'list'? Thanks. :-) Quote
Clunk42 Posted August 12, 2019 Author Posted August 12, 2019 So I sort of sussed it out myself in the end (I think). I’d been creating styles that were both Char/Para combined (for neatness), but it appears the TOC panel will only show Paragraph-only styles and named like the original ones (i.e. “Heading 1), which seems a bit restrictive and weird to me, but it’s working. I got all excited for a second, when I found a menu item, in the Text menu, that said “Reinstate Base Styles”, but that appeared to do absolutely nothing... Apart from this head-scratcher, loving Publisher and gradually getting to grips with its differences (to InDesign) and it’s foibles. :-) Quote
