Tomeric
Hi, this is 100 % reproducable in APhoto 1.7.1/iMac 27 Late 2013/Mojave: Using "Acquire Image" with "Image Correction" set to "Manual" crashes the Scanner-Interface (CanoScan 5600 F) immediately as soon as I press the "Scan"-Button. With "Image Correction: None" it works fine and PhotoShop has no problem with any setting. Looks like a bug to me... Cheers Tom
R C-R
Just checking but do you have the most recent driver for your scanner installed? From https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/scanners/film-negative-scanner/canoscan-5600f it looks like it should be ICA Driver Ver.4.1.4a (Mac). Tomeric
Thanks for the tip, R C-R! I hadn't installed any drivers yet, and used the TWAIN interface instead. Now I have installed both Canon drivers for test purposes, but unfortunately with the same result: The scanner popup crashes...
Staff Lee D Posted August 9, 2019 Staff Share Posted August 9, 2019 Affinity uses the built in interface within macOS to scan, have you tried scanning from within macOS with the same options to see if this is OK?
Tomeric
Didn't know that there is a built-in interface... Using the Mac-scanner-interface works fine, AP still crashes. Serif doesn't seem to use the exact same interface: See the missing "Scan to/Name/Format"-settings.

That much does not seem surprising since presumably the scan is intended 'by design' to open directly into an Affinity document in the native Affinity format. But that does not help at all with resolving the crash problem.
