how do I do an image like these

You can’t do an image (i.e. one single image) like those four! Pick one of them, try to work out what its components are, and see how you get on.

You’ve made a good start, Josie! Now for some shading and squiggly bits.

Speaking of squiggly bits, try to use smooth nodes more often. For example, almost all of the nodes in the ‘mouth and nose’ shape are sharp nodes, so it’s quite angular instead of gently curving. If you find it easier to tap without dragging (which gives you a sharp node) just do it that way and then change the node type after the fact: marquee-select all the nodes with the Node Tool and tap on the ‘Smooth’ icon on the Context toolbar.

I am a newcomer to the Affinity line of products, but reading through this (and several very similar) threads I just want to say that I am incredibly impressed with the patience and generosity of the folks here, and it's nice to know that I would be able to get help for a legitimate question should the need arise some day.

Alfred, you're the man.

Try adding simple shapes (e.g. a crescent for the shading on the side of the face). Instead of using dark colours, use black with reduced opacity so that the colours show through from the layers below, and add a Gaussian Blur effect to soften the edges.

Do I have to do shading with the paint brush or can I do it with the shapes and the pen tool?

You’ve already demonstrated that you can do it without using the Paint Brush Tool.

Pen tool is fine. Use black for shadows and white for shiny bits. :)

As I remarked in my previous post, you’ve already shown us that you can do it without the Paint Brush Tool. Just keep on using the Pen Tool, but remember to create smooth nodes instead of sharp nodes so that the shapes have nice curved edges.

How do I make an image like this one?

Well, what do you see when you inspect it? The base of the cup is just an ellipse sitting behind the bottom of the cup shape, and the cup is a trapezoid with the top and bottom edges curved down. The logo is text in a circle, with a paw print in the middle, and the paw print is an upside down heart and four little ellipses.

Could, you,do,a video for me so I can see it?

A video showing you how to draw an ellipse, a trapezoid, a donut and an upside down heart? Are you serious?? :o

And how do I make the cat that’s inside of it?

Draw the cup first, and then come back to the question of how to make the cat.

Some users may experience learning difficulties and require additional assistance and a much patience. Unfortunately, we can't all be creative geniuses. I know I’m certainly not. :D
