(By the way, you seem to have a lot of empty pixel layers in there. I'm not sure why you're creating them, but I don't think they're doing anything for you.)

There are also very many more nodes than are needed for these simple shapes, and the presence of straight line segments between them makes for an unnaturally angular look. Compare and contrast the screenshots below:

The attached file has the original version on the left and my tweaked version on the right.

When I use the pen tool to trace the images, how many nodes should there be when adjusting the nodes to get the exact or similar look

As few as possible. If you need to you can add nodes simply by tapping. Remember to use the edit feature to 'shape' your lines into curves. Try drawing circles using only 4 taps with the pen. Keep practicing with simple shapes and curves and before you know it you will be drawings cats .

How do I do a cat and a mermaids tail together as one?

Load a cat picture and place a tail picture on top. Adjust the size and position of one or both so that the tail covers the rear half of the cat’s body.

Get back to me about the cat spewing rainbows and how to do it ASAP!

thanks.

get a picture of a cat... i'm sure you have one or two... then get a picture of a rainbow and put it on top just like the one in the rainbow-puking cat picture...the exact same way you did the cat-mermaid picture.

As few as possible, as many as you need. There is no single answer that will apply to a hundred cat pictures. Each one will be different.

How do I make frosting like this in affinity designer? Get back to me ASAP

That’s a very simple shape, Josie. What do you need help with?

You could even download a ‘poop’ emoji and recolour it. ;)

What shape is it to make the frosting?

It’s three shapes: two sausage-like things and then a pointy blob on top. I used the Trapezoid for the bottom two and a Tear for the top one.

Select each one in turn, convert it to curves and then tweak the nodes to get something like the frosting in the reference image.

nice use of the trapezoid tool. I probably would have used the pen tool and thus would have taken longer.
