Togo Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 Its most unfortunate that the ability to save a file in the Trial program in the native Affinity format is NOT available. I mean, what is the fear here? Is Serif afraid that someone will be able to actually use a native Affinity file after the trial is over and get pages of work for free? If the trial expires then so does the usefulness of the file in that native format. As it is, I spent about 2 hours playing with the program to see if it would work for me and after seeing that I liked it it would have been pretty nice after buying the program if my work would at least have been saved so that I could continue where I left off. Guess now I will have to start over again. BIG bummer! I understand restricting the export function as you did but why the "save as" function? Silly, in my opinion. I have now taken pause before buying the program after this. I still may buy it (because I liked it) after a few weeks and I have cooled off but it really left an unpleasant taste in my mouth today. td Quote
Alfred Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 The sample files are locked, for copyright reasons, in both the retail version and the trial version. As far as I know, however, you should be able to save and/or export your own files from the trial version: it’s only meant to be time-limited, not crippled in terms of functionality. Togo Posted August 6, 2019 Author Posted August 6, 2019 Oh man,..great. Just great. So I used the sample as my starting template. Then reworked it with my edits and artwork. Figured I could save it as a new file name. But it would not even let me do that! Lesson learned I guess. I need to cool off a bit though. I'm on the fence about buying it. I DO thank you for your kind and quick reply. Thanks man. td Alfred 1 Quote

Ron P. Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 I just tried in both the release and beta versions. I get an X over the cloud symbol, no way to download. Before clicking on the cloud would initiate the download. Never mind, I see where it finally started to download. Crappy snail internet. Previously the progress was shown around the cloud icon, which many users missed or misinterpreted. If you click on the cloud with the red X, you're cancelling the operation that is in-progress. Togo Posted August 10, 2019 Author Posted August 10, 2019 Well I decided to purchase it. I really like this program. There are a few areas where I would love to see some improvements. The way it handles text is "ok" but there are some oddities that should be worked out in future versions. It's not always logical in how it handles spacing etc. Color editing/management is also off putting at times. This is not the spot to post the issues but rather just wanted to mention the fact that there are some areas that could use some improvement. One thing I can honestly say is that I have NOT really had to look at a manual for most of the functions and that is amazing in and of itself! This a very well designed program and extremely robust. I'm very happy I made the switch to this program and will not look back. td Quote
