Not exactly, Lee. I'll attach a .afstyles file to this post. If you import it, and drag it onto a Text Frame, it will change the frame's fill and stroke. (It will also change the text settings, probably to Arial 12pt, and some other text-related settings. But it will also affect the frame itself.)

It's really a question, I think, of what a Style was created from, that determines how its attributes are applied to some other object.

Sorry, it's about typography, in Characters. There is a device that changes an initial character into some kind of calligraphy. But I can't get it working.

The availability of initial forms, swashes and other OpenType features depends on the font. Which particular font(s) are you using?
