jessicahopemedlock Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 The attached file is where two corners of two squares meet - one navy and one white. When i draw a square in affinity photo there is a blurred/semi transparent edge. how do i stop this? It seems to appear whenever I scale the squares. Thanks! Jess Quote

jessicahopemedlock Posted August 5, 2019 Author Posted August 5, 2019 i used the rectangle shape tool. After re-sizing a few times it gets this strange edge. Then even when I undo the re-sizing the edge doesnt go away. geos.afphoto Quote
Staff MEB Posted August 5, 2019 Staff Posted August 5, 2019 Hi jessicahopemedlock, That happened because the squares are no longer aligner with the pixel grid. If you change the document units to pixels (switch to Zoom Tool, check Units dropdown in the context toolbar) and select any of the squares in the last group (inside the OPITON 2 group) with the Move Tool and check the Transform panel you will see they don't have integer values for the the X,Y coordinates nor for their widths/heights. So they are rendered antialiased creating the edge effect (smoothing) you see. If you want them sharp, the original square must have integer values for its X,Y coordinates and width/heigh. If you then scale it up (or down) you must ensure you do so using an integer value (x2, x4, whatever using the Transform panel - you can use expressions to multiply values there) or if you scale them manually dragging them all with the mouse make sure Force Pixel Alignment is enabled in the main toolbar (the icon on the left in the group with a magnet). Also make sure the icon immediately on the right (Move by whole pixels) is turned off as it keeps there decimal values of the objects if you move/transform them. jessicahopemedlock Posted August 5, 2019 Author Posted August 5, 2019 ok thank you. Is there any way to turn off anti- aliasing? Im a print designer and need edges to always be crisp and stay as a solid colour for screen printing. I literally never want anti-aliasing on... //J Quote
