Georgy Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 Hello, I have been using Affinity for a year or so with no problem. Since yesterday every normally exposed RAW picture I try to download from my computer appears very dark as if being very underexposed although the exposition cursor is at the zero point. So I have to make some corrections add more light and obtain a normal image that I then develop with Develop button. The problem is that the final image shows huge overexposition as if from the beginning the exposition cursor had not been well calibrated showing zero instead of real -5IL. I have already deinstalled and reinstalled my Affinity but the problem persist and I can't use the software. Does anybody have any idea of how it may be fixed? Thank you for your help. Quote

Alfred Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 For clearer screenshots, use the tools provided by the operating system: How to take a screenshot on your Mac Use Snipping Tool to capture screenshots on Windows 10, Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 By the way, instead of saying “need help” it’s better to use the topic title to indicate what you need help with. Georgy Posted August 5, 2019 Author Posted August 5, 2019 Thank you for you reply, I will take into account your remark about the title but it is not the problem of getting clearer images. The problem is that the initial image (I mean before any processing ) does not appear like it should but much darker than it really is which makes all the corrections made afterwards excessive. It is not about using the tools but about initial settings, only I don't know which one Quote

I was referring to the (lack of) clarity of your screenshot of the Develop Assistant dialog, which you obviously captured by pointing a digital camera at your computer screen instead of using the tools provided by the operating system. Joachim_L Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 Affinity Photo has not changed yesterday. Were there other changes to your PC or your camera? Apart from this: Never noticed this before, that there is a pulldown for the RAW engine. The only item is "Serif Labs", but a pulldown implies that there should be more than one option. Is it planned, that we decide which RAW engine to use? Staff stokerg Posted August 5, 2019 Staff Posted August 5, 2019 Hi Georgy, When you've got a RAW file open in Develop can you check the 32-Bit Preview Panel and make sure Enable HDR is disabled (unless you have a HDR screen) and that the Display Transform is set to ICC Display Transform. From what you've described i suspect the Display Transform option is set to unmanaged, but i could be wrong. Quote
Georgy Posted August 5, 2019 Author Posted August 5, 2019 Thank you Stokerg, it certainly has something to do with 32bit HDR because when I switch from Develop to Photo and the Raw RGBA/32 (HDR) file (which is dark) turns into RGBA/16 it becomes normally exposed, then if I return to Develop it still remains correctly exposed. The only problem is that if I want to increase the exposition pushing the cursor to the right my sky turns yellow and red ! (Nothing like that if the cursor goes left) It must be something with HDR but in my Develop Assistant the RAW output format is RGB (16 bit) and Display Transform is well on ICC mode. Anyway, thanks a lot for your help. Quote
