gar722
Totally new to Affinity. After looking over all info, I have not seen an instructions on how to upload pictures into Affinity to edit. My camera is Canon, computer is PC running Wind 10, with Firefox browser. How do I get pictures from camera to Affinity for editing? Thanks
Staff Callum Posted August 3, 2019 Staff Share Posted August 3, 2019 Hi gar722, Welcome to the forums The best way to import your images would be to transfer them from your camera to a location on your computer such as your desktop, then open them via File > Open in Affinity. Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
John Rostron
From the way the question is phrased, it sounds as if you a7re trying to open a file by uploading it to an online, web-based program. Have you downloaded and installed Affinity Photo? John Quote Windows 10, Affinity Photo 1.10.5 Designer 1.10.5 and Publisher 1.10.5 (mainly Photo), now ex-Adobe CC CPU: AMD A6-3670. FWIW, "upload" & "download" usually mean transferring files from one storage device to another, for example uploading an attachment to a forum post or downloading an image file from a camera to a computer. So as @Callum said, to edit a file in Affinity, you would download it from your camera to your PC, & then open it in Affinity. S Hendricks
Does anybody know why all my files are defaulting to AD, so they are unusable elsewhere??? How do I prevent this so I can use my images in other programs??? There is no "open with" option! Your help would be greatly appreciated

I can only speak for Windows. On my PC, right clicking opens a panel with an Open with option. You may need to do two things: Ensure that your files show the file type extension suffix (jpg or exe). See How to Configure Windows 10 to Show File Extensions (techviral.net) Set the default program to open a particular file type. In the Windows search box (bottm left of screen) type "Choose default applications by file type". So you can associate any .afphoto or .jpg file with Affinity Photo. If you are on a Mac or iPad, then perhaps someone else will help. BtW, this topic is not really a follow up to the original question in this thread. You should really have started a new thread.
