Hi, complete newbie and struggling with basics!

Somehow I changed to Separated Mode, I can't get back to Normal mode i.e what is described in the help file as:

Normal mode

When Affinity Publisher first opens, it will run in Normal (single window) mode. This means that all panels and view will be neatly docked together so that all controls are at your finger tips and easy to find.

I have tried Windows menu-> Merge all windows but it stays in separated mode, is this a bug or am I missing something? Searching forums only finds me article of full screen- not what I want. I want all the controls"docked" not as floating panels.

So simple when you know! The help file seems (to my poor brain) to suggest merge is the correct option, can you take a look at that and consider changing the help to explicitly provide the answer...but maybe I'm just dumb! But I couldn't find anything in the help file Thanks for the quick response.

Thanks...OK I see it but... Now I know what to do it makes sense but the heading is " To change to Separated Mode" I was already in it and really didn't notice the "toggle" comment. It would not hurt to have a heading that says "To change to Normal Mode", and just say untick separated....

The context is important as the next heading is this

To group multiple documents into a single window:
  • While in Separated mode, from the Window menu, select Merge All Windows.

To me this looked like to return to normal mode  you choose merge... 20/20 hindsight is great but a small change to wording would clarify it.

I'll read a little more carefully next time though!

I had the same problem... Couldn't uncheck Separated mode until I had closed my document first, then it worked, tnx

That should not be necessary. You should be able to uncheck Window > Separated Mode at any time, with or without any documents open in the app.
