Hello,

a few hours ago I was finishing my work for a client. During export, I clicked on "Export options" and Affinity Designer crashed and I was unable to open the file again. As the program crashed, an "Unhandled exception" message box appeared:

An unhandled exception has occured and the application cannot continue. The crash reporter will be displayed after the application exits. Reference: >any numbers and letters<.

So I began with troubleshooting. I was running version 1.6.2.x before. Firstly I tried to open that file in Affinity Publisher, but no way, it takes much time to load and then it crashes too. So I uninstalled Affinity Designer completely (including registry files etc.), then I updated graphics card driver, rebooted PC and installed Designer again (version 1.7.1). Now the file crashes without any crash message.

The file is quite large, it is about 3 GB, so maybe that could be one of the issues. Other files are working, but that large one doesn't.

Do you have any solution for this issue? Or is it possible to split the file into separate smaller files? There are many artboards inside the file.

And one last note: When I think back in time what I was doing with the file today – I remember that before I opened it in Designer, I accidentally opened it in Publisher probably. It shouldn't be a problem, but maybe it will help you while solving my issue.

Thank you in advance!

Hi senovskym and Welcome to the Forums,

We are really going to need a copy of that file in order to see what going on.  I've setup a Dropbox link here and once we've got the file this end, i'll be able to see if we can get into the file and rescue it :)

Hi senovskym,

Thanks for uploading the file.

I opened it on my Mac and it remains open, however as soon as i opened it on my Windows PC, it crashed the release build and the current beta :(

I've had to log it with the Windows Dev team, hopefully they can fix it
