DeniseIleen
Hello, migrant from Pixelmator here - but still a newbie in image editing software. I'm working with Affinity Designer. Attached is a JPEG image I need to recreate by: 1. Creating a new vector shape per each numbered polygon (in total there will be 5 shapes, snapped to each other as demonstrated in the JPEG) - Should I use the polygon shape? How? - Is there a way to make them mathematically precise/perfect? 2. Per each vector shape I make, I need to replace the colors with an image. - I understand this means I need to clip/mask each image per these shapes. Is that possible to do with these abnormal shapes? All tutorials I find are only with the shapes already provided/created by Affinity. Thanks so much for any tips or guidance!
Sara72
Hi, You could use the Isometric plane to recreate some of the sides and use the Polygon, Rectangle and triangle shapes together, editing their shape/sides etc via the context toolbar (there's also presets for each shape, via the Cog menu). Affinity Designer - Shape tools Affinity Designer - Isometric design and grid setup To get a photo inside a shape you can just nest it inside the shape in the layers, one of the easiest ways is to right click, copy the image from your computer, with the shape selected go to: Edit>Paste Inside. DeniseIleen
Hi there, thank you so much for the tutorial references. I've watched them and they've helped my workflow a lot. The Isometric panel you referenced looks very relevant to the what I'm trying to achieve. I'm new to this forum but will assume it works similarly to others. Because my new question's topic is quite different (isometric panels and snapping), I am going to begin a new forum question thread. Sara72
No problem, good idea to start a new topic on the Isometric panel and snapping specifically, I’m still learning my way around it too
