kepalakantor Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 When I first installed the Affinity Publisher app, the "Column" icon appeared in the toolbar. But now if I open the files I am working on the Column icon do not appear anymore How do I recover and make the Column icon back on the toolbar? Quote
PixelPest Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 I gues you´re talking about the Mac version, if so; make right-click on the toolbar to get access to the Customize Toolbar.. feature (macOS wide available) and edit accordingly. Cheers Quote
walt.farrell Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 I don't recall ever seeing a Column icon on the Toolbar. There is a Column box on the Context Toolbar when the Frame Text Tool is selected, though, if your window is wide enough. And it's in the overflow extension if your window is too narrow. Do you have a timecode where it's visible? And/or a hint about what it looks like? PixelPest Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 Haha - good one. I was mislead by "first installed..." But the same procedure on Mac applies. Didn´t explain why his toolbar changes though. Cheers Quote

So it's just terminology, since the OP asked about a Column icon, not about an Alignment icon. Columns are part of Text Frames, or grids, in Publisher. PixelPest Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 Sorry for the confusion: I think I need a break. Column has no icon for the toolbar - just available via Tables afaik. Quote

PixelPest Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 Still not sure; did you probably made the Tool-bar invisible by alt+cmd+T (View-> toggle Show Toolbar) ? Cheers Quote

Are you sure you have a Text Frame selected (look in the layers studio or which tool on the left is active)? kepalakantor Posted July 30, 2019 Author Posted July 30, 2019 Ok noted. Thank you all for your assistance. Best regards. Quote
Staff Patrick Connor Posted July 30, 2019 Staff Posted July 30, 2019 Sorry that is the right context toolbar for Frame text (I missed the icon on the left), so that was not the problem. Columns icon only appears once you have placed the frame test or selected an existing text frame. Columns does not appear with the tool chosen, but before the frame is placed on the page. That is what your screenshot looks like to me. Open your document and click on any text frame, does Columns appear then?
