Feature Request - Mission Control

Recommended Posts

This is just something thats niggled me for quite a while, in the olden days when I used to use Photoshop, one really handy feature that I really miss is when you invoke the Macs mission control shortcut for application windows (I have it assigned to F10), which does the fullscreen thumbnails thing with all open documents - this is something I really miss and have always found mega-useful. I know you can kind of do it, providing you're in separated mode but I find separated mode too messy for my workflow - Just wondering if the team would take on board a suggestion to enable this in regular mode???

Heres a quick vid demoing application windows in separated mode:

@Dazmondo77

It's not literally the same but have you tried (default combo) CTRL-downArrow as a workaround?

EDIT: It's a bit of a combo of open documents and document history as it turns out.

I certainly don't think I turned this on specifically on mine but in case it's been turned off on yours, take a look at your keyboard shortcuts to make sure Application Windows is enabled and for what key sequence in System Preferences > Keyboard

Ahhhh Brad I see what you're getting at, I have F10 assigned to application windows in mission control - my gripe is that this shortcut only works as described in separated mode, what I was requesting was a way to access the same feature in normal (not separated) mode

I wonder if there's a difference between Publisher and Photo? I realized after I posted that I tested on Photo -- but I never use Separated Mode.

Brad I just fired up my old Macbook and it works the same as yours, yet all my settings are the same as on my mac pro, same shortcut setting for application windows - just thinking I must have activated some hidden thing that turns the standard feature off - just need to figure how to turn it back on as it would be really useful (nowhere near as useful as having large thumbnails and no app window though)

If I had to guess, I'd lean toward that meaning there's a key-combo-override in place somewhere on your Mac Pro. Maybe set the key sequence to something else at the System Preferences level? If that works, then you have the choice of tracking down what is overriding or not.

EDIT: Also, maybe check out some of the ideas in this thread to identify possible conflicts: https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/13410/global-keyboard-shortcut-conflicts
