Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Photo and make a 100 x 100 pixel image
  2. Observe CPU usage
    1. Make a selection with elliptical marquee tool
  3. Observe CPU usage

Expected

  • No change

Observed

  • Now 5% constant CPU usage

What's your Renderer set to in Preferences?

In this case the default gfx card on a business Lenovo Thinkpad (in a corporate setup). No GPU on this particular machine.

Thanks. The marching ants are actually drawn by the GPU, which is why I was interested in what your Renderer was set to. I'm fairly certain we've got a laptop with that GPU in it, so we'll see if we can reproduce it.
