Live filters not exporting or printing

Recommended Posts

A few days ago I posted that Live Filters get ignored when making a PDF or printing directly. I assume this is a bug & I'm just wondering if any moderators have logged it.

Simple export with Live Filters is not possible. You have to "manually" rasterise the layer with the Live Filter before the export. Not what I expected from non-destructive working when you have to rasterise the layer.

I suppose you could duplicate the live filter layer and hide the copy before rasterising and exporting so at least you have something to work with if changes are needed. As you say, it's not ideal.

One of the Affinity video tutorials deals specifically with Live Filters using the Photo persona in Publisher. If this really doesn't work properly I wonder if this tutorial would be best removed.

Aha, so if whatever you are working on, @MickRose , is a work in progress, and you want to make a PDF preview of your work so far, or send it to someone for feedback/review, you have to rasterize etc. etc.? I too would expect rasterize everything would rasterize... well, everything. Why would I like the PDF to look... like something else... :o

In the Export dialog click on the More... tab and set Rasterise to everything (but it doesn't seem to work)

Instead you could click the image layer which will select also the adj layers (if nested).
Then right click on the image layer and select merge visible.  Then when selecting that merged layer, export should work. Didn't test for print, but I suppose it will work too.

^ This is another aspect of the bug I'm afraid.

Your best bet is to export to an image and print that for now... sorry.

I'm actively updating the bug report whenever I see a discussion on this.
